I have been attending artist and filmmaker Tereza Stehlikova’s Sensory workshops and this month contributed an experimental session of sugar metamorphics – a sensory exploration of the many forms that sugar takes, and it’s transformative properties upon history, culture, our bodies and our future.
I also made some sugar work as part of her performance event Journey to the Interior, a multi-sensory, participatory performance and feast, inspired by George Bellas Greenough, a geologist and a founder of the Geological Society London, as well as Jules Verne’s story the Journey to the Centre of the Earth. The performance happens in the context of Open Senses Weekend, a London wide festival dedicated to the senses, as well as Wormwood project, a 100 day residency at Dissenters Gallery, in collaboration with poet Steven J Fowler.
