I appeared on ‘Rial Talk – a podcast by material scientist Dr Anna Ploszajski which explores the personal connections we have with the materials around us.
During this episode, we discussed the creation, transformation and imagination of sugar, based on the research I was undertaking as part of the Feast Journal project. During the episode Anna asked me what’s my favourite thing you can do with sugar – I said melt it, but then further chats led us on to making a carbon snake – burning sugar and bicarbonate of soda to reveal the carbon at the heart of the carbohydrate.
